OUR STORY
Michael Cooper has been fortunate to live in Spain since he was 23. He moved there to be with Rosario, his partner in life. You could say that he went on an adventure for love an ‘Aventura Por Amor’. He has had the opportunity to make wines in several wine regions, especially in Aragon, where he and his wife have built their own winery in Campo de Borja. Vinos del Viento, is a name inspired by the strong winds in the Ebro River Valley that can often reach 50 kilometers per hour, the ‘Cierzo’ wind.
He is committed to his philosophy of combining innovation and tradition, and produces a range of wines that reflect this approach. Each wine has its own distinctive character, shaped by the varieties and specific terroir of the vineyards. Michael has been a pioneer in the area, making wines from single vineyards with old vines, which he believes are “unique treasures to preserve and share with the world.” At the moment, his vineyards are going through the process of becoming organic, and are cared for with biodynamic preparations. All the wines in the Los Angeles line are crafted in accordance with the guidelines of “Vins Méthode Nature,” the recently established French certification for natural wines. Additionally, the orange wine “Amber” and his new ancestral sparkling wine, “Wannabe,” adhere to these principles.
Michael’s creations are special in that they reflect the delicate aromas and flavors of the unique terroirs, taking into account the mesoclimates, soils, varieties, grapes and indigenous yeasts. They are grown with minimal intervention and with a care to create joy in the glass.
